Application Process
When applying for a MICAH Fund matching grant the following process is used. Note: To allow enough time to complete this process it is best to contact the MICAH Fund right after the completion of your home study.
- Complete homestudy
- Request pre application. If approved, complete application.
- Application received by the Micah Fund. Decision made to approve/decline. The Micah Fund has made a commitment to only accept applications based upon funding available. If there are no matching funds available, the family will be put on a waiting list and will be called when funds become available.
- Interview with Micah Fund committee members. Interviews typically occur every 6 – 8 weeks.
- Family receives final approval/denial.
- Family begins support raising and mails letters to church, family, friends, business contacts, co workers, etc. The Micah Fund receives a copy of this letter.
- Include a letter from the Micah Fund. This explains who the Micah Fund is, the matching grant commitment, and briefly how this works.
- Include a support letter. Sample provided that family customizes.
- Donated funds sent directly to the Micah Fund and tax deductible receipts sent to each donor. The MICAH Fund is only able to accept checks, online donations, or paypal. The MICAH Fund is unable to accept checks from the grant recipients themselves or from fundraiser benefits. Acceptable donations must be from financial supporters only. If you have any questions regarding this, please talk with the intake coordinator or with your lead interview contact.
- Family sends thank you notes to each individual who supported family financially. The Micah Fund will provide a list of financial partners at the end of the adoption process.
- The Micah Fund is a 501(3)(c)non profit organization and retains discretion and control over the use of all donations. Although this may cause some concern for families and donors, it is the Micah Fund’s intention to honor the wishes of donors as much as possible.
- All donation must be received (not mailed) prior to placement of child.
- The Micah Fund’s grant monies will be available to be applied only to your placing agency after placement of child. The grant is never used for travel expenses or to reimburse a family.
- Family sends a follow up letter to financial partners after child joins the family, along with a picture so each supporter can see what God did in your adoption and continue to pray for your family.
- The Micah Fund will request follow up information from family: name and date of birth of child, placement date.
